Mr. Maxon, an enrolled member of the Mandan-Hidatsa-Arikara Nation, began working at the ND/SD-NABEC as a Business Development Specialist in 1992 and later became project director in 2001. Brek earned his Bachelor of Science degree from University of Mary, Bismarck, with a major in business and a minor in business communication 1989. He worked in retail as an assistant manager and then went back home to the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation to work for a local tribal district as business and marketing manager for both the district and its gaming operations. In his positions with the Center, he has received training in a variety of business-related and program management topics through participation in conferences, seminars and workshops and other training events.
Lawrence D. Stockert - Minority Contractor Specialist
Mr. Stockert began working with the ND/SD-NABEC in March 2003. Lawrence holds a Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Administration from Myers University in Cleveland, Ohio. He is a veteran of the US Navy who was attached to a Marine Corps Unit in Viet Nam. He has multiple years of experience in the Construction Industry with special skills in Medium and Large Construction Projects. He worked for Northern Improvement and Atlas Ready mix for several years and is familiar with many types of Construction and Land Development. He spent 15 years in the Banking Industry as a Senior Commercial Lender with Wells Fargo Bank being his last assignment in the Banking Industry. He is extremely proficient in all areas of Banking and Commercial environments involved in both Business Finance and Construction Project financing. His financial, accounting and tax background is extensive as his 30 plus years of real-world Senior Management experience coupled with all types of Commercial and Industrial Lending experience has become an invaluable and insightful tool that can be used by this Centers Client base.
Mr. Stockert assists the centers Clients in all phases of business development in the Construction Industry, Retail, Wholesale, and Manufacturing Industries as well. The broad spectrum of his experience and education is a very valuable tool that can be utilized by businesses of all types and nature.
